On Monday, MSNBC anchor Stephanie Ruhle couldn’t understand why President Biden’s poll numbers were collapsing, suggested the Omicron variant of COVID could help ease inflation, and whined about reporters covering high gas prices. All this left-wing talk was part of her 9:00 ET show, as she tried hard to shield the White House from all criticism.
“Heidi, we have got vaccines that work, American business is back, and it’s booming. The bill for hard infrastructure was passed. Yet Democratic voters are losing motivation going into the midterms,”Ruhle lamented over former Democratic Senator Heidi Heitkamp. Moments later, Ruhle lamented to Heidi Heitkamp, former Democratic Senator. “Robert, why are the President’s poll numbers dropping? Getting the hard infrastructure bill passed was huge, where we stand with COVID is huge, our economic recovery very good, look at the jobs numbers.”
Even Gibbs was capable of understanding Biden’s unpopularity: “I just don’t think right now people are looking at their economic health through a jobs report. I think they’re seeing gas prices go up, I think they’re seeing their Turkey dinners on Thanksgiving be more expensive.”
Ruhle took advantage of reports about these issues to address them. “A lot of Democrats want Biden to be punching more, attacking Republicans more ahead of next year.”
Ruhle also discussed Friday’s stock market plunge due to fears about the Omicron COVID mutation. Ruhle then wondered if this new virus mutation could be a good thing.
This temporary negative news, Dan, that has spooked the markets, could actually be a good thing in the larger sense of the economy. We’ve talked about the overheated demand, gas prices, suddenly people might say, “I’m not going to go out as much. I’m going to play it a little bit safer.” This could help to temper the price rises.
Ruhle viewed the positives in bad economic news, keeping with the theme at the show’s end.
Gasoline prices are already starting to dropThe second consecutive week of falling. On Friday, oil fell 13% making it the lowest day of the year. Investors worry about the Omnicron version and whether this new lockdown could lead to less driving.
The segment ended with her complaining about how media co-workers were reporting high gas prices. She instructed them instead to hype the prices falling slightly. “And what we also hope, for every reporter out there who was standing at a gas station over the last month talking about rising gas prices and what it’s doing to Americans, I certainly hope those same reporters, those same storytellers, will be covering those prices as they’re going back down.”
Ruhle, a real left-wing hack, can think that Biden is worthy of high approval ratings. She also believes an ongoing pandemic should somehow be good news. Journalists must downplay the high gas prices.
Progressive and E-Trade brought this parade of liberal talk points by Ruhle to viewers. This is your chance to fight back against these advertisers by telling them what you think about their sponsorship of such content.

STEPHANIE RUHLE: Heidi, we have got vaccines that work, American business is back, and it’s booming. The hard infrastructure bill was also passed. But Democratic voters seem to be losing their motivation heading into the midterms. How can Congress help?
FMR. FMR. [D-ND]They must get the job done. The bottom line is when the Democrats are in charge, even by a very slim minority of votes, they’ve got to produce results. This is the time to do it.

RUHLE: Robert, why are the President’s poll numbers dropping? The hard infrastructure bill was passed, which is huge. COVID’s position with us is enormous, so our economic recovery has been very positive. Take a look at the number of jobs.
ROBERT GIBBS: Yeah, it’s a great point, Stephanie. And we’ll get a new jobs report at the end of the week. I just don’t think right now people are looking at their economic health through a jobs report. I think they’re seeing gas prices go up, I think they’re seeing their Turkey dinners on Thanksgiving be more expensive.

GIBBS: I think while a lot of President’s agenda is popular, I don’t think the American people know much about it because, as Senator Heitkamp talked about, the process of this has overwhelmed the specifics of the substance. That’s a messaging challenge for the White House and Democrats that they have to be focused on really over the next few weeks and also well into 2022, heading into the midterm elections.
RUHLE: Robert, you’re our communications guru. Many Democrats would like Biden to attack Republicans harder and punch more in the coming year. What do you think?

RUHLE: But here’s the real kicker. Already, gas prices have been falling steadily for the past week. Oil dropped 13% on Friday. This was the worst day of this year. The Omnicron variant is causing investors concern. This will be something we are keeping an eye on and we will bring you further details as they become available. And what we also hope, for every reporter out there who was standing at a gas station over the last month talking about rising gas prices and what it’s doing to Americans, I certainly hope those same reporters, those same storytellers, will be covering those prices as they’re going back down.
