“You are not less of a woman because you choose to be hairy!!”
A Miami-based drag queen has taken to social media with a special message intended to redefine what it means to be feminine.
Jupiter Velvet, a self-described “queer/latina/trans/femme,” tweeted out a picture of herself in heavy makeup, with chest hair visible just above the crop.

The words “trans women define their own femininity you are not less of a woman because you choose to be hairy!!” captioned the photo.

Jupiter Velvet, who performs in a weekly drag show in Miami, has been an advocate for body positivity and trans representation for some time.
Last July, she told the Miami New Times, “It’s true that I’m hairy and tits out and don’t dress the same way everybody does, but it was the first time I heard someone call that ‘body positive.’ It was weird at first, but now I’m leaning into it and feeling great about it.”
She is apparently now comfortable enough with her hairy femininity to advocate it to the world.
Jupiter Velvet spoke out at a time when President Donald Trump’s ban on transgender members of the military has progressive activists fearing for their future, with some issuing near-apocalyptic warnings. But when it comes to the culture wars, the gender-benders seem to be winning. Even as the likes of Jupiter Velvet have sough to redefine femininity, feminists have called for changes to what it means to be a man.
