Emily Ratajkowski Poses Nude to Protest Abortion Law Passed by ’25 Old White Men’

“Our bodies, our choice.”

Emily Ratajkowski, a 27-year-old actress and model known for speaking out in support of feminist and progressive causes, protested a recent Alabama law that curtails abortion by sharing a nearly nude photo of herself Thursday morning on social media.

“This week, 25 old white men voted to ban abortion in Alabama even in cases of incest and rape,” she wrote in a caption to the Instagram pic. “These men in power are imposing their wills onto the bodies of women in order to uphold the patriarchy and perpetuate the industrial prison complex by preventing women of low economic opportunity the right to choose to not reproduce.”

“The states trying to ban abortion are the states that have the highest proportions of black women living there. This is about class and race and is a direct attack on the fundamental human rights women in the US deserve and are protected by under Roe vs. Wade. Our bodies, our choice,” Ratajkowski added.

The “Gone Girl” star’s protest comes amid a backdrop of contentious debate over legislation in southern states aimed at restricting abortion.

“Heartbeat bills,” which prohibit most abortions after six weeks of pregnancy, have passed in four states this year, and Alabama lawmakers on Tuesday voted to effectively outlaw the procedure entirely. Gov. Kay Ivey, a Republican, was expected to sign the legislation.

In protest of the legislative trend, actress Alyssa Milano last week spearheaded a #SexStrike that she declared would deny men sex “until we get bodily autonomy back.”

The campaign has been widely derided on both the left and right. Conservatives have mockingly applauded Milano for promoting the pro-life teaching of “abstinence first,” even as some have expressed pity for her husband.

Meanwhile, feminists – including a woman who suggested she’d divorced her husband for being a supporter of President Donald Trump – criticized the #SexStrike as a setback to women’s sexual liberation. LGBT types complained that they had been excluded.

Ratajkowski’s overtly sexual protest appears to be a step in the completely opposite direction.
