Donald Trump Jr. Reveals ‘Real’ Reason Behind the Euthanization of the ‘Capitol Hill Fox’ – Opinion

It’s been hard to keep track of all the stories on the mysterious “Capitol Hill fox” over the last several days as the fox’s bite victim count reportedly went as high as nine including Rep. Ami Bera (D-Calif.) before the furry creature was captured by the Capitol police and then euthanized to determine whether or not it had rabies (it did).

Rumours about the fox erupted as they swirled. Was it one, or two?), social media accounts had some fun with the various reports about fox sightings on the Hill, with a few Twitter accounts claiming to be the “official” one for the fox sprouting up, including the one below in which a “statement” pleading innocence and pointing to a lack of understanding of foxes by human beings was obviously issued by the fox before her untimely demise:

If someone, or something, on the Hill, or connected with the Clintons, dies, there are always memes about Hillary Clinton. Donald Trump Jr. was quick to add his own contribution.

Hoooboy. Not hard to see why the fox met a swift end if that “report” turned out to be accurate, right? The fox never stood a chance…

Another unofficial “official” Capitol Hill fox account took the Will Smith approach to warnings about fox encounters:

According to various local reports, after the fox was euthanized, it was discovered that she had several babies or “kits” as they’re called. The two were also killed.

Sam Miller, Humane Rescue Alliance spokesperson, confirmed that Wednesday’s fox test positive for rabies at the D.C. Public Health Lab. For rabies testing to take place, non-vaccinated animals should be killed. Brain samples are required.

D.C. Health released a Thursday statement that the kits were also taken away. “Since the mother tested positive for the rabies virus and the kits could have been exposed during grooming or other means, they were no longer able to be safely rehabilitated,” the agency said.

Though the mama fox has now gone to fox heaven, she’d be proud to know that at least the mainstream media treated her better than they treated Brett Kavanaugh in 2018 during his Supreme Court confirmation hearings, giving her the benefit of the doubt over the accusations that she attacked nine. Note the use of the word “allegedly” in this CBS News story:

Fox News reporter have looked into the possibility there could be more than one fox out there, causing people concern. Here’s one tidbit of information on the fox from correspondent Chad Pergram:

Fox has been informed that Fox could have more than one Fox roaming around Capitol grounds. One Fox was caught by animal control in Russell Park Wed. But Fox has been told (hey, we have good sources, because, well, we’re Fox) that there may be a skulk of foxes (lookit, up folks) lurking on the grounds

Be at ease, Mrs. Fox. We hardly knew ya.
