Democrats Make a Desperate, Insulting Shift in Last Ditch Effort to Sell Joe Biden’s Agenda – Opinion

While Republicans rushed to help Biden pass his infrastructure bill, the rest of the president’s agenda remains in limbo. Nancy Pelosi forced the “Build Back Better” bill through the House last week, but it is essentially dead on arrival in the Senate. That didn’t stop Democrats from celebrating as if they’d just liberated Europe, but I digress.

But the White House still has a problem. What is the best way to get their enormous spending bill passed through moderate supporters like Joe Manchin, Kyrsten Silena, and others? And on the other side, you have Bernie Sanders, who is expressing disapproval of Pelosi’s inclusion of a massive tax cut for the wealthy (that just so happens to benefit residents in California, New York, and New Jersey the most).

Well, Democrats think they have a plan, and it’s coming via a desperate, insulting shift in messaging. These people really believe that most Americans are dumb. They will be proved right.

Democrats who are running for competitive Senate seats have been urged not to dwell on the question of the cost to live in order to make their case. Vice President Biden‘s Build Back Better legislative agenda, according to a polling memo released exclusively to The Hill.

A polling memo was sent to Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and found the message as being one of most effective messages among the more than 360 messages submitted by Senate Democrats in this cycle.

“Democrats say you should support [candidate] because they’re proposing legislation to reduce the cost of living for all Americans,” the message in the memo read. “They say that their plans lower the cost of health care, child care, eldercare, and cut taxes for millions of working families. They’re making sure that their plans are fully paid for by making the wealthy and big corporations pay their fair share – but no one making less than $400,000 will pay any more taxes.”

It is almost impossible not to be impressed by the brilliance displayed here. This is why living costs are so high. becauseOf Democrat policies. These results are largely due to too many government dollars being pumped into an already hot economy.

With that daily reality in their faces, Democrats now want to say they can lower the cost of living. And they are going to do so by…spending even more money? I can’t think of a dumber, more obviously ludicrous message. I’m referring to the fact that lying to voters is a common tactic. Democrats aren’t even bothering. Water is not wet and don’t you dare suggest it is.

I shouldn’t have to explain this to elected federal officials, but you can not spend your way out of an inflation boom. It is impossible to subsidize the way out of an inflation boom. You can’t subsidize your way out of a cost-of-living crisis by pumping more money into the economy. This will devalue normal Americans’ purchasing power and take their savings. Inflation is increasing and cancelling out any gains. It’s like a dog chasing a car.

Here we are with a White House, a Democrat Congress, insisting that they’re the chosen ones capable of extracting every drop of blood out of a turnip. I am skeptical the American public will buy this argument. If anything, a focus on the cost of living is going to hurt Democrats because you can lie to people about a lot of things, but you can’t lie to them about what they see on the bank statement.
