“Anybody who questions the validity of the Constitution — whether it works in the modern era — should never be president.”
Rep. Dan Crenshaw, R-TX, slammed former Texas Democratic Rep. Beto O’Rourke after the latter called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a “racist” on Sunday.
Speaking during a campaign event in Iowa, O’Rourke slammed Netanyahu, who he said represents neither “the true will of the Israeli people” nor the “best interests” of U.S.-Israel relations.

He said the United States’ relationship to Israel must “transcend partisanship” and “a prime minister who is racist, as he warns about Arabs coming to the polls, who wants to defy any prospect for peace as he threatens to annex the West Bank, and who has sided with a far-right, racist party in order to maintain his hold on power.”
The Texas Democrat continued by endorsing a two-state solution as the pathway to peace between Israelis and Palestinians.
“We must be able to transcend his current leadership to make sure that that alliance is strong, that we continue to push for and settle for nothing less than a two-state solution, because that is the best opportunity for peace for the people of Israel and the people of Palestine,” O’Rourke said. “It is the best opportunity for the full human rights of everyone who is living in that region.
In response, Crenshaw issued a blunt assessment of his fellow Texan.

Crenshaw has made no secret of his feelings about O’Rourke in the past. In January, he told the Washington Examiner that the former representative for Texas’s 16th congressional district had disqualified himself from ever becoming president by questioning whether the “principles” of the Constitution were still relevant.

“Anybody who questions the validity of the Constitution — whether it works in the modern era — should never be president,” Crenshaw said.
He also ripped O’Rourke’s exploits on social media, which some have taken as a sign of his ability to connect to tech-savvy younger generations. “If you get your teeth cleaned on Instagram live, it shows that you’re just out of touch. That doesn’t make you relatable or cool. It just makes you weird,” Crenshaw said.
