Over the weekend, Democrats passed another huge and harmful spending bill that economists believe will worsen inflation. But according to CNN Newsroom host Pamela Brown on Sunday, President Biden is “one of the most legislatively successful presidents in modern history.” She even got combative with former Trump campaign advisor David Urban and essentially demanded that he adopt her spin as truth.
As she brought on Urban, Brown essentially defined “legislatively successful” as just spending a ton of money:
“So President Biden has been winning, with the American Recovery Act, or COVID stimul package, close to $2 trillion. Infrastructure and Jobs Act $550 Billion, Chips and Science Act $280 Billion, and then what Democrats are calling “The Inflation Reduction Act”, which will generate $700B in government revenue, according to Democrats.
“Would you concede that President Biden is one of the most legislatively successful presidents in modern history?” Brown pressed Urban.
Urban answered (wrongly in Brown’s eyes,) “Well, Pamela, I don’t know about that.” In relation to the total spending numbers she had listed off, he said, “that money is not free. That money is coming from you and me and other taxpayers.”
This answer only led to her pushback in which she tried to defend the Biden Administration, arguing on behalf of what the White House, even mentioning that the President is “on a roll.”
URBAN: All taxes will be increased.
BROWN. But, in the latest bill, there are ways to also raise money through taxes, such as the 15% minimum tax for corporations. But go ahead.
URBAN: This is right.
BROWN: Hold on. Let’s talk about the bill. I understand you don’t like it. It’s just one. It’s expensive, you think.
URBAN: Almost the whole bill, Pamela.
BROWN – You believe it is too costly. Can you — will you admit that?
URBAN: Sure.
BROWNs.
“Listen, Pamela. It’s Joe Biden on a roll. Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi and I are not sure. I didn’t see Joe Biden up on the Hill twisting arms and making this happen,” Urban pointed out.
After eating up most of Urban’s time by arguing, Brown couldn’t help but yield and wanted to keep things moving. “Okay. Well, we got to move on because we have a lot to get to,” she said.
Though Brown seems to back the legislation Congress has passed racking up trillions in spending and raising taxes for even the average American, she admitted that “economists are mixed on whether this bill [Inflation Reduction Act] will actually reduce inflation.”
When Urban brought this back to the attention of the host at the end of the discussion, Brown retaliated by saying, “You just can’t let it go, can you, David? Can’t let it go.”
It is incredibly shameful to think that a Biden Presidency has been able to succeed.

BROWN Let’s now get the facts from the opposite side. Alyssa Farah, an ex-communications director for the Trump White House, is joining me, as well as David Urban, an ex-Trump campaign advisor.
We are both very happy to meet you. Biden is racking up victories with the American Recovery Act (or COVID stimulus package), which has amounted to nearly $2 trillion. Infrastructure and Jobs Act: $550 billion. Chips and Science Act $280 billion. Democrats now call it the Inflation Reduction Act. It is estimated to generate $700 billion in revenue for government.
David, I’m the one who is going to speak first. While you may disagree with some of these bills in principle, would you agree that President Biden has been one of the most successful legislative presidents of modern history?
DAVID URBAN, FMR TRUMP CENTRAL ADVISOR: I’m not sure about that. And just to step back, it seems like you are reading trillions of dollars. It is not free money. It comes from me, you, and other taxpayers.
BROWN: Right. BUT…
URBAN: All taxes will be increased.
BROWN : The latest bill provides a way for them to raise money through taxes, such as the minimum 15% tax corporations pay. But go ahead.
URBAN: The right, and
BROWN: Hold on. Let’s talk about the bill. I understand you don’t like it. It’s just one. It’s expensive, you think.
URBAN – Pretty much all the bill, Pamela.
BROWN – You believe it is too costly. Can you — will you admit that?
URBAN: Sure.
BROWN – This is what President Biden looks like lately, thanks to these legislative victories.
URBAN: Li-Li-Li Listen, Pamela. Although I’m not sure if Joe Biden is on a roll or Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer has been on a rollercoaster ride. Joe Biden wasn’t up there on the Hill, twisting his arms and making these things happen. There is no need to give Joe Biden any applause. It is a great piece of legislation that has been passed by the Democrats and administration.
If you are looking to subsidize Teslas for progressive wing members of the Democratic Party then yes.
BROWN: Okay. We have much to do so we need to keep moving. You also have to lower gas prices. The jobs report, which was released Friday, came in better than anticipated.
Alyssa: Inflation is still an issue, but how do you feel?
ALYSSA FARAH FIFFIN, FMR W.H. COMMUNICATIONS Director: This was undoubtedly one of President Biden’s best weeks in office. I think the only thing we can all agree upon is removing the most dangerous terrorist in the world.
BROWN – That is also.
GRIFFIN, That’s always good news for America. Despite that, as I have said before, I am not convinced. You could name any bill, but this was going to lower inflation. It will be interesting to see what the future holds. By all means, I do hope so. It seems that I am more concerned about Americans having the ability to buy groceries and fuel than it is about denying President Biden a victory. It’s too late for the game and it is difficult to understand the politics.
The midterms have arrived, and I know that these wins will slowly lower the historically high inflation rate. But I do not think they are enough to make the economy swing enough for Democrats to take the House. However, I believe it is going to give the Republicans the edge in the Senate.
BROWN: Economists have mixed views on the impact of this bill on inflation.
(…)
Eastern at 7:11 p.m.
URBAN Just to make a quick point.
BROWN – You can’t let that go David. Can’t let it go. It is possible to reduce inflation by using it, as economists are divided about that, which I already mentioned.
Both of you are very much appreciated.
