Biden Team Makes Embarrassing Error During Medal of Honor Ceremony – Opinion

We’ve seen a lot of gaffes from Joe Biden and the Biden administration. Indeed, it seems like it’s now happening every day. On Wednesday, Biden claimed that if you were vaccinated, you couldn’t spread COVID. He also lied about his Build Back Better bill not costing a “single penny.” The Biden team just keeps putting out nonsense and can’t seem to get their act together

Yesterday’s Medal of Honor ceremony, which recognized three individuals — two deceased and one still living — was marred by a terrible gaffe. In announcing the award for the recipient who was still alive — Master Sgt. Earl D. Plumlee — the White House military aide made a serious error, saying Plumlee was receiving it “posthumously” as Plumlee stood right there next to Biden, awaiting his award.

“Attention to orders,” read Marine Lt. Col. William Kerrigan, military aide to the president. “The president of the United States of America, authorized by act of Congress March 3, 1863, has posthumously awarded in the name of Congress the Medal of Honor to Staff Sgt. Earl D. Plumlee, United States Army, for conspicuous gallantry at the risk of his life and above and beyond the call of duty.”

It wasn’t clear if that was what was written down for the aide to read. The White House account of remarks reflected this.

It is possible that there was confusion as the two additional awards to Army Sergeant. Alwyn Cashe, First Class and Army Sgt. Posthumous First Class Christopher Celiz was also awarded. Plumlee served as a Staff Sgt. at the time he earned the award; he’s now a Master Sgt.

Plumlee received the Medal of Honor in recognition of his heroic actions in fighting off Taliban suicide bombers in Afghanistan as a Special Forces soldier. Dressed in suicide vests as Afghan army soldiers, insurgents stormed the U.S. bases and dug a 60 foot hole through a perimeter wall. Plumlee reacted with five others, in two other vehicles.

Using his body to shield the driver from enemy fire, he instinctively reacted, exiting the vehicle while simultaneously drawing his pistol and engaging an insurgent to the vehicle’s right. He ran straight at the enemy, with no cover and disregard for his safety.

Upon reaching cover, he killed two insurgents, one with a well-placed grenade and the other by detonating the insurgent’s suicide vest using precision sniper fire. He ignored his safety and ran alone, engaging multiple combatants within close proximity to the superior enemy force, including an insurgent, whose suicide vest went off just seven meters away from him.

He was determined and unaffected and joined an American Soldier and Polish Soldiers who moved to cover in order to attack the infiltrators. The force moved forward and he was confronted by an insurgent on his right. After being wounded, the insurgent then threw another grenade and detonated his suicide vest. After he had engaged the insurgent from the rear, Staff Sergeant Plumlee jumped around to engage him. An American soldier was mortally wounded when his suicide vest was detonated by the insurgent. Soldier.

In total disregard of his own safety Staff Sergeant Plumlee ran towards the injured Soldier and carried him safely to safety. After arranging three Polish soldiers for defense, Plumlee continued scanning for potential threats, while remaining in a secure position.

Biden said Plumlee’s honor “has been too long in coming” and that’s true. This had to happen because of Biden’s withdrawal from Afghanistan, which was so debacle and betrayed Americans, our allies, and ourselves. Americans and their allies still remain stuck there.

Biden and his team continue to flout the law which requires them inform Congress of the details of how they plan to help people escape the country. It’s a continuing disrespect to all who served and all the allies who helped us while we were there.
