“She was being very apprehensive, pointing the gun at them, pointing the gun at her baby, saying ‘Don’t come closer, don’t come any closer.'”
Authorities allege that an armed woman walked into a San Diego Easter Sunday service holding her 10-month-old baby, threatened to blow up the church, shoot the congregants and pointed a gun at her own child.
The San Diego Police Department charged 31-year-old Anna Conkey, a former digital freelance producer for NBC 7, with several felonies, including assault with a firearm and child cruelty, NBC 7 reported.

The incident occurred Sunday afternoon in the auditorium of a local school, where the non-denominational church Tsidkenu Church was holding Easter service. Police and witnesses say Conkey waved a handgun, threatening to blow up the church and shoot the service’s attendees.
Authorities said the gun was not loaded.
One witness, who helped subdue and disarm Conkey, told NBC 7 that she pointed the gun at her child.
“She was being very apprehensive, pointing the gun at them, pointing the gun at her baby, saying ‘Don’t come closer, don’t come any closer,'” David Michael Miller said.
A family member told NBC 7 that Conkey had recently made several alarming comments on social media and in videos she uploaded to YouTube.
“I’ve been experiencing the rapture since January 12th,” Conkey says in a video posted to YouTube shortly before the incident.. “If you think just following a holy text is going to save you, you’re wrong. Because prophecy is gonna be fulfilled.”

NBC 7 received an email warning about an attack at the church, minutes before the incident took place.
“There’s a woman claiming to be the messiah, saying she was sent to blow up the foundation of the Church—she’s got a gun and a child is involved. Address is 4350 Mount Everest Blvd San Diego, CA 92117. There’s about 70 people in the auditorium of the school where the church service is held,” the message read.
According to NBC News, the email was sent by Conkey herself.
Conkey’s 10-month-old child and 5-year-old daughter, who was not present during the incident, have been taken into protective custody.
The mother of two is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday. Her bail has been set at $28,500. Conkey served in the U.S. Navy from 2007 to 2012.
According to her Facebook profile, Conkey studied journalism at San Diego State University and has several clips of her work listed on her personal website.
