An Open Letter to Marjorie Taylor Greene and Nancy Mace – Opinion

Rep. Nancy Mace, and Rep. Majorie T. Taylor Greene

From the Sports Desk located below the decks of RedState’s Good Pirate Ship RedState. Usually, I’d be writing about athletes and teams and such, leaving politics to the superb crew aboard our sporty vessel. But, now I have to deal with matters of body politics.

You two.

The Hill recently published a disturbing article about a rising social media conflict between you and your friends. We’re not Democrats here aboard the GPSRS. While we expect that there will be differing opinions, we also respect one another even when there are strong differences. You can see the evidence here. 2020Simone Biles, 2021 Tokyo Olympics The same is expected of political leaders. Public discourse is only possible through robust debate and hard work. Iron makes iron sharper.

Name-calling? Doesn’t cut it.

Rep. Greene, your passion is our joy. You’re a firebrand with a seemingly inexhaustible fuel supply. That is what we need. Also, we need to be careful about where the fire is going. Is it hypocrisy or moronic mask demands? Beautiful. The class clowns are on the other side. Terrific. But don’t torch your own bridges. Keep the fury for the opposing side. Are you having a dispute with a Republican friend? Use Alexander Graham Bell’s invention for its initial intention, which to the surprise of many wasn’t tweeting and making/watching TikTok videos. Grab the phone. Contact the other party. Make an appointment. Have a private discussion.

Rep. Mace, your determination is admirable. The Citadel’s first female graduate? Definitively worth taking off one’s hat to out of respect. You’ve earned your way up the ranks, first in the South Carolina state legislature and now in Congress. You are a strong conservative. Why is this? So why are you publicly arguing with your colleague? It is not a smart idea.

Rep. Greene, Rep. Mace please. Take Bob Newhart’s advice.

For a while, turn off Twitter. Perhaps you can make sweet tea or whatever else you like. (I’m from the San Francisco Bay Area, so if it’s not unsweetened herbal tea, it’s out of my sphere of knowledge.) So, sit together. No staff, no press, no announcements. Two adults acting as adult, doing what they would. Discuss it. It’s possible to work it out. If necessary, agree to disagree. Keep disagreements to yourself. You have far more significant battles to fight against a senile President and his manipulators both in Congress and behind the scenes. That is what you should be focusing on. Don’t let the media lapdogs starve. Please don’t throw them any bones. It’s best to work this out privately. Now. Thanks.
