Actress and liberal activist Alyssa Milano on Saturday followed Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s lead and compared the Trump administration to the Third Reich.
With no commentary other than a photo credit, Milano tweeted a photograph of Nazi leader Heinrich Himmler, an architect of the Holocaust, touring a Soviet POW camp in 1941 on top of photo of Pence inspecting the conditions at a migrant detention facility in McAllen, Texas, on Friday.

Pence visited the Donna Processing Facility and McAllen Border Patrol Station in the Rio Grande Valley along with acting Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan and several Republican senators. Afterwards, he called what he saw “tough stuff” and acknowledged the system was “overwhelmed.”
However, Pence pushed back on congressional Democrats’ who have blamed the Trump administration and U.S. Customs and Border Patrol for the conditions at migrant detention facilities. Rather, he said Democrats were to blame for not providing adequate funding.
“Congress MUST reform our laws to end this unsustainable crisis of illegal immigration at the border,” he tweeted Friday afternoon.
Toured the Donna Processing Center with @SecondLady and saw firsthand how even in the face of our overwhelmed facilities, @CBP is providing humane and compassionate care. Congress MUST reform our laws to end this unsustainable crisis of illegal immigration at the border. pic.twitter.com/zQZkJKRGU4

At a roundtable discussion following his tour, Pence praised CBP officials for their “extraordinary and compassionate professionalism.”
How Alyssa Milano got to calling people Nazis
Milano’s comparison of the Trump administration to the Third Reich echoed rhetoric used by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. The progressive New York Democrat has compared U.S. migrant detention centers to Nazi concentration camps and warned that the United States is undoubtedly “headed for authoritarianism.”
And it wasn’t the first time Milano has been in sync with Ocasio-Cortez when it comes to immigration advocacy. Last month, she showed up at a Florida detention center unannounced in an attempt to inspect the conditions. She live-streamed stunt, which ended with her being turned away.
Days later, Ocasio-Cortez joined a congressional tour of Texas Border Patrol facilities.
This week, some of Milano’s 3.6 million Twitter followers were happy to see her resorting to Ocasio-Cortez-like hyperbole. In one well-liked comment on her Himmler-Pence tweet, a woman suggested the Nazis were actually morally superior to the Trump administration.
I’ll give ‘em this, at least the (earlier) Nazis looked their captives in the eye. #NOTdefendingtheearliernazis

However, the replies were dominated by critics. Echoing the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, many commenters pointed out that there is simply no comparison between U.S. treatment of migrants and the Holocaust.
This is absolutely insane. Go educate yourself on the Holocaust, and the American immigration laws, @Alyssa_Milano

Others called out Milano’s advocacy for abortion rights, suggesting she is supporting a second Holocaust of unborn children.
This is better. Actually makes some damn sense! pic.twitter.com/kFERqPhmdz

Yet others accused Milano of encouraging violence. Some noted that a man said to be an antifa activist had firebombed an ICE facility in Washington state hours earlier.

A manifesto that friends said the attacker left behind is filled with moralistic language about migrant “concentration camps” and “ascendant” fascism.
