“We have no faith in your ability to discharge your duties.”
On the heels of Mueller report findings clearing President Donald Trump and his associates of colluding with the Russian government, all nine Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee called for Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff’s, D-C.A., resignation as Committee Chairman at a public committee hearing Thursday, NBC News reported.
Rep. Mike Conaway, R-T.X., read aloud from the scathing letter signed by his nine fellow GOP lawmakers. Trump joined House Intel Republicans in calling for Schiff’s resignation.

“Your willingness to continue to promote a demonstrably false narrative is alarming,” he said. “The findings of the special counsel conclusively refute your past and present exertions, and have exposed you of having abused your position to knowingly promote false information.”
“Your actions both past and present are incompatible with your duty as chairman of this committee,” Conaway added. “As such, we have no faith in your ability to discharge your duties in a manner consistent with your constitutional responsibility, and urge your immediate resignation as chairman of the committee.”
A visibly agitated Schiff defended himself following Conaway’s remarks.
“My colleagues may think it is OK the president’s son was offered dirt as part of an effort to help Trump,” Schiff said
“You might think it is OK. I don’t,” Schiff added.
Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation found that neither President Donald Trump nor any of his aides conspired or coordinated with Russia’s meddling in the 2016 election, according to a summary of the special counsel’s findings released Sunday.
“The Special Counsel’s investigation did not find that the Trump campaign or anyone associated with it conspired or coordinated with Russia in its efforts to influence the 2016 U.S. presidential election,” said the summary made public by Attorney General William Barr.
Conservatives, Trump’s supporters, and Republicans, meanwhile, have celebrated the findings as a vindication of the president and a damning indictment of a purportedly politically motivated campaign by liberals and Democrats. Schiff, as arguably one of the loudest voices proclaiming the collusion narrative in recent years, has been the focus of much Republican ire.
