5 Ways To Keep A Clean Home As A Busy Mom

Whether you’re a stay-at-home mom, or one that works while also taking care of the family and home, children keep life busy and complex, and cleaning often takes a back seat for moms with so little time to spare. However, with a little foresight and dedication, it is possible to keep a clean home when you’re a busy mom.

While hiring a cleaning service is above all else, the quickest and most convenient way to ensure that your home is kept clean when you’re a busy mom, if you prefer to do things yourself, here are 5 helpful hints:

  1. Storage the heck out of your home!

Storage is a fantastic way of keeping clutter to a minimum, for keeping your home tidy, and making it easier to clean. Make sure you have plenty of storage in every room, and for the best results, try to have some sort of system so that you don’t just end up throwing junk into a closet until you can no longer open the door without items cascading out!

Not only does decluttering make for a tidier home, but it can make for a healthier mind, too; in fact, there are all sorts of wonderful benefits associated with a clutter-free home.

  1. Enlist the help of other family members – including the kids!

It’s not just mom that makes the place unclean, right? In fact, more often than not, it’s everyone else in the home that makes it cluttered and dirty! With this in mind, why shouldn’t they take some responsibility and help you clean the place up? While younger kids might not be so aware of clutter and dirt (and will likely not make a mess intentionally), they can sure as heck help you clean up with a little guidance. And older members of the household should certainly be pulling their weight.

  1. Squeeze a quick clean-up in whenever possible

While it might be tempting to take whatever spare time you may have for a nap, or for putting your feet up, you’ll feel far more satisfied if you use that time to have a quick clean up. All it takes is 15 minutes to clean up the kitchen after meals, and another 15 minutes before everyone goes to bed to pick things up, put them away and possibly run a vacuum over the main high traffic areas of the home.

  1. Create a daily cleaning schedule

By making a schedule for cleaning, you’ll find it much easier to get tasks done by priority, and feel as if you’ve achieved something if you do a little every day. Also, if you happen to have an extra busy day and can’t find any time for cleaning, you can simply carry it over to the next day and do a little extra so that you don’t fall behind.

  1. Get the professionals in!

Even if you prefer to clean your home yourself, having a professional cleaning service come in just once a month to carry out a deep clean, can help you keep on top of things and prevent your home from becoming a health and safety nightmare!

Most importantly, as a busy mom, try not to punish yourself if you don’t manage to find the time every day to do a bit of cleaning. After all, the most important thing is that your kids (and you) are happy, healthy and cared for, and while a clean home is a bonus, it isn’t the be all and end all.
