Acosta Refuses to Relinquish Mic, Grapples With Aide in Explosive Trump Presser

“You are a rude, terrible person.”

CNN’s Jim Acosta, known for his contentious rapport with Trump administration figures, refused to relinquish a microphone to an aide during a heated post-election press conference Wednesday.

President Donald Trump responded to questions from the White House correspondent regarding the migrant caravan and Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation by attempting to move on.

A White House aide tasked with handing the microphone off to reporters attempted to take it from Acosta.

When he refused to give up the microphone, Trump chastised Acosta as a “rude, terrible person.”

“CNN should be ashamed of itself having you working for them,” Trump said. “You are a rude, terrible person. You shouldn’t be working for CNN. You’re a very rude person. The way you treat [Press Secretary] Sarah Huckabee [Sanders] is horrible. The way you treat other people is horrible.”

Acosta has been a frequent Trump administration antagonist, sparring repeatedly with White House press secretary Sarah Sanders and drawing condemnation from conservatives who accuse the CNN journalist of grandstanding.

In July, members of the media widely condemned the White House, who cited Acosta’s purportedly disrespectful behavior as the cause for canceling a CNN interview with UN Ambassador John Bolton.
