A 22-year-old North Dakota teacher resigned from her job Friday after police obtained racy photos she allegedly sent a 17-year-old student.
Kelsie Schmidt, a math teacher at Beululah High School in North Dakota, reportedly sent the teen three or four X-rated photos of herself via the Snapchat messenger app. According to police, at least one photo shows Schmidt topless with her blonde hair barely covering her breasts, while another shows her bare legs along with a message inviting the young boy to “get a group and play naked hide and seek.”
The student said he received the photos from Schmidt between August and September of last year.

Before her resignation, Schmidt had reportedly been placed on administrative leave by Beululah High. It was her first teaching job since graduating from St. Mary University, a private Catholic college with a branches in North Dakota, according to her Facebook page.
Schmidt has been charged with the felony of luring a minor by computer or other means. At her initial court appearance last Tuesday, a preliminary hearing was scheduled for Feb. 27.
Her attorney told reporters that this was “a very unfortunate situation for everyone.”

Still, at a time when Catholic school boys are being decried as dangerous predators for imagined crimes, Schmidt’s case seems unlikely to earn anything like similar opprobrium from American society.
